Saanich Council Decisions 2021
The VRPA has worked with Saanich Parks planners since the 2016 creation of the Tolmie Park courts - the first, purpose built, dedicated courts in the Capital Regional District.
On Oct. 4 the future of the Tolmie Park courts came before Council to provide direction to Parks planning staff. In advance, the VRPA made a submission to the Mayor and Council. Staff provided a report containing 5 possible options to be considered in any combination.
The first motion was to adopt Option D - remove pickleball from the park. It was defeated 8/2. The next two motions, to adopt Options A (test a new sound mitigation strategy) and E (adopt new guidelines for choosing future locations for pickleball courts) were passed unanimously.
The VRPA will continue it's consultation with Saanich Parks Planning staff on all future pickleball matters and appreciates the thoroughness of Saanich Staff and Council.
